Highlighted Players
Connor McDavid - The longtime Edmonton Oiler is having himself not only a career year, but one for the history books. He is on pace to surpass his single season point total by 99 points; and his best is 153. The most points ever in a single season was 215, by the Great One himself four decades ago. McDavid currently leads the league in both assists and points by a wide margin.
Kirill Kaprizov - The Russian native is scoring goals like it's nothing. 13 games into the season, he is scoring at a goal a game pace, which could end up being 84 goals if he continues. Kaprizov has reached the 40-goal mark in four out of his six seasons in the NHL, with number five looking overly possible. He is also third in the league in points with 21, looking to cruise past his career best of 108, currently on pace for 136.
Adam Fox - The former Norris Trophy winner is off to a fantastic start to the season, tallying 16 assists in the first 13 games of the season. Although he hasn't scored a goal, he is still on pace for 103 points; all being assists. Fox is set to break his career best 74-point campaign in 2021-22 by almost 30 points.
Division Leaders
The Boston Bruins lead the Atlantic Division with a 9-2-1 record for a total of 19 points. David Pastrnak leads the team in all offensive categories, with seven goals, 10 assists, and 17 points. He is already being categorized as an early MVP candidate, leading his team to a hot start. Young guns like Fraser Minten and James Hagens provide a lot of hope for what is to come to the city of Boston in the future. Respectively, they have 10 and nine points a piece. Goaltender Jeremy Swayman has boasted a record of 7-1-1, along with a save percentage of .920. Rookie goalie Michael DiPietro has appeared in three games, posting impressive numbers as well. He holds a GAA of 1.69, and a save percentage of .941. Marco Sturm is in his second season as the head coach of the Bruins, after taking part as a player for the organization from 2005-2010.
The Carolina Hurricanes lead the Metropolitan Division with a 9-2-2 record for a total of 20 points. The reigning Stanley Cup Champions have continued their success very early to start the season. Sebastian Aho leads the team with 18 points, tied in the assist category with Jackson Blake, with 11. Pyotr Kochetkov has been outstanding for this Carolina team, carrying a GAA of 1.70, save percentage of .916, and a perfect 7-0-0 record. Kochetkov is in his sixth season with the Hurricanes, earning a starting a role with the departure of Frederik Andersen. Rod Brind'Amour is in his 16th total season behind the bench, with the past eight being the head coach. He played for the Hurricanes from 1999 until his retirement in 2010. He won a Stanley Cup both as a player in 2006, and as a coach in 2026.
The Minnesota Wild lead the Central Division with an 8-3-2 record for a total of 18 points. Kirill Kaprizov leads the team in both goals (13) and points (21). Quinn Hughes has been dominant on the blue line, with 13 assists and 16 points. Jesper Wallstedt has shown promise ever since he entered the league, and he showcases a GAA of 2.08, and a save percentage of .918. He has collected seven out of the eight wins with the absence of veteran goaltender Filip Gustavsson. John Hynes is in his fourth year as the bench boss in Saint Paul, recently signing an extension to keep him there for years to come. The injury bug has struck this Wild squad, but success has still been coming. Minnesota is coming off their first playoff series victory in 11 years, showing promise with their stars and depth scoring.
The Edmonton Oilers lead the Pacific Division with an 8-2-2 record for a total of 18 points. Connor McDavid leads the team and the entire league with 34 points in only 12 games. Leon Draisaitl has produced a team high 12 goals, along with 24 points on the season. Evan Bouchard has been one of the best offensive defensemen in the game, collecting 21 points in 12 games; leading the entire league from the back end. Goaltending has never been a strength in the McDavid era, as both goalies in Devon Levi and Tristan Jarry have a GAA north of 3, and a save percentage below .900. Mike Babcock is in his first year as head coach of this Oilers team, bringing a different mindset to a team that has made consecutive Stanley Cup Final appearances in 2024 and 2025. The window for a championship for this team seems to be open, but time will tell.
