  Connor McDavid - The Next "Great One?" Connor McDavid has been one of the biggest superstars known to the National Hockey League since the hype around forwards Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin . Generational talents seem to come around every 10-15 years, and McDavid is no stranger to having the spotlight on him. He entered the league with high expectations, and he has delivered since his first game in the pros. This season, he is shattering numbers that legends like Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux were putting up back up in the 1980s and 90s. McDavid was a standout forward for the Erie Otters  of the Ontario Hockey League, one of the highest ranked junior leagues in all of Canada. He spent three seasons with the Otters, totaling a total of 97 goals, 188 assists, and 285 points in just 166 games. He also added 25 goals, 43 assists, for 68 points in 34 playoff contests.   Dylan Larkin - Captain Controversy Dylan Larkin is a member for the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League. Larkin has established himself as a consistent player throughout his 11-year career; all with the Red Wings. Recently, the longtime captain had been hit with backlash and negative reactions from fans after requesting a trade in June of 2026. The Red Wings have been going through a rebuild for quite some time, as their last playoff appearance was in the 2015-16 season; which happened to be Larkin's rookie season.  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Larkin was drafted 15th overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft out of the University of Michigan.   Minnesota Wild The 2026-27 season has the potential to be one of the most exciting seasons in the history of the Minnesota Wild's franchise. It also could be one of the most important ones considering the window they are in to compete for a Stanley Cup. After winning their first playoff series since the 2014-15 season, they seemed to be a contender from the Western Conference.   NHL Late Season Recap As the 2023-24 NHL season is coming to a close, the playoff race is heating up. With just a few weeks left of games, there is a tight race towards the top of the standings, as well as the wild card race. There have been many individual milestones that have been achieved during this season, season wide or career wide.                2013-14 Crosby nearly played a full season in 2013-14, playing 80 games. It was the most he had played in a single season since 2009-10 when he played 81. He put up 36 goals and 68 assists for 104 points, eclipsing the 100-point mark for the 5th time in 9 seasons. He led the league in assists, as well as points, which ultimately led to winning the Art Ross Trophy for the 2nd time, and the first since 2006-07. He got the honors of league MVP, taking home the Hart Trophy . It was his 2nd time being named the Most Valuable Player, and his 3rd time being nominated for the award. To top it all off, he was named the winner of the Ted Lindsay Award as well.  This was just one of many elite seasons that Crosby has put up, and it brought Pittsburgh back to the postseason where they lost to the New York Rangers in the Second Round.
